LOL - Conditions not as favorable today (in GOM) as they....

#1 Postby Coriolis2003 » Mon Sep 29, 2003 5:50 pm

were yesterday, in the GOM. What a joke! Conditions have not been favorable in the GOM since Friday of last week. I even stated that a couple of days ago. The 5:30 update from the NHC is completely ridiculous. If it wasn't for the nice weather here in Big Bend (FL), I would be completely livid. :grrr:

ALTHOUGH THE CENTER OF THIS LOW IS
NOW EMEGING INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO...UPPER-LEVEL CONDITIONS ARE
NOT QUITE AS FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT AS THEY
HAVE BEEN OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS.

They're not exactly saying that conditions got worse in the GOM. I'm sure they meant to say that the low is no longer in an environment as condusive for development.

The conditions were favorable when this tropical disturbance was over the western and northwestern Caribbean.

I never read any statement that mentioned the Gulf of Mexico in the last several days, until this afternoon.

Upper level wind shear has decreased during today over the eastern Bay of Campeche and the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.
