Quiet continues...
The room continues to be kinda quiet as of late here.. Juan caused a little bit of a buzz in here last night but it's been kinda quiet in here the last few days.

Think the low pressure area near the Yucatan will get interesting during the next 24 hours. Definitely a fairly good low level circulation developing, but until more visibles are seen, hard to tell what direction its going in. Seems to be NNW, but could be developing a more westerly component. The upper level environment seems to be improving as shear looks to be Decreasing near the low. Not sure what its gonna do, but I think we'll see Larry out of this if it gets over water in the southern GOM. After that its up in the air, but I think it will have a good window to strengthen.

Speaking of rainmakers- West Central Collier Co. (and surrounding areas) have had 3-5 inches of rain in the last couple of hours. Many roads and yards are flooded and we are under a flood warning now instead of a watch. All in all a very ugly Monday morning but at least it's not blowing or surging!!!!

Since discovering this board, I've been watching and reading more than posting. This has been a wonderful place for me to test my understanding of weather patterns. I've been visiting the NHC and wunderground daily, drawing my conclusions, then coming here to see if I am on the right track. How cool! I haven't been too far off base so far, but certainly have learned there are many factors I never considered before.
My "guess" is the blob in the GOM will be a huge rainmaker for Fl for the next few days, from Orlando south, but not much north of that. Moving NE. If some of it "hangs" around long enough, it may develop, but not for many days ( if at all).

Latest update- at 2:48PM from the NWS, the flash flood warnings have been extended to 6 PM. Since this morning ,we have had between 6 and 8 inches of rain with another 2-4 inches anticipated. I'm at the north end of the county where I thought there wasn't quite as much precipitaton but when I went home at lunch our rain gauge was almost overflowing. Many roads were underwater and all of the drainage ditches are full. I even saw three wood storks wading on the side of the road and other water foul in abundance. How cool!
I just hope we don't get any serious winds for a while or the trees will be going down like dominos.
