NHC & TPC AT ODDS OVER INVEST 90?.........

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sun Sep 28, 2003 10:56 am

Excerpt from NHC Discussion:

TROPICAL DISTURBANCE...1007 MB LOW PRESSURE CENTER...IN
NW CARIBBEAN SEA NEAR 19N85W. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS SUPPORT POSSIBLE
TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. NUMEROUS
STRONG CONVECTION WITHIN 180 NM NORTHWEST OF 20N78W 15N89W...
FROM SE CUBA TO GULF OF HONDURAS.

But the TPC TWO makes light of the disturbance and the Recon. was cancelled. Go figure.

The disturbance looks very healthy right now IMO. Think we should beware of this one.

Dixie.. they may end up making it "17" before recon gets there.. lol...

1/2 the models take it to florida.. the other 1/2 to Mexico or Texas..

There is no LLC! Sending a recon down there right now would be a waste of time and money.

Maybe they are going for the two for one special with the BOC flare up.

You are exactly right, Fla Girl. There is no way out of the GOM once a storm is in there -- unless it fizzles, of course. It's unwise to disregard a potential storm in the GOM.

Organizations...

NHC is part of TPC, and they're in the same building.

Different groups of people, however doing the TWOs and TWDs.

The 2PM NHC TWD was 3 hours later than the 11:30AM NHC/TPC TWO. It improved between the two products.

People spend too much time microanalyzing word choices and such, particularly in TWOs.

I agree with you Derecho. However, there has to be a reason for the word choices.

Derecho, thanks for your take on the confusing language of the TWO and Disc.
