Great example of low level deformation

If you've ever seen someone (read: ME) make a post about low level environmental deformation, or stretching, as it pertains to tropical waves or low level vortices, Take a look at a 12-24 hour loop of the broad, 'naked' vortex SE of Lane and the Hawaiian island chain and watch how it stretches/elongates toward the end, going from circular to more elliptical when it encounters such an environment.

It's pretty surreal to see just how powerful this once was and to see it just decouple from winds aloft, honestly quite astonishing.
