When will we see Bret?

#1 Postby TheStormExpert » Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:44 am

With our first named storm Arlene happening quite awhile ago back in late April the question now is when might we see our next named storm Bret?

I'll start the poll and go with late June between the 16th-30th in the Western Caribbean.

If a moderator could turn this into a poll that would be appreciated.

I voted July 1st to 10th. There always seems to be some kind of a threat to ruin July 4th holiday, I'm thinking something in the area from Florida east coast up to Carolina coasts..

I think he's serious, he may have voted for it after he made the post, though I'm not certain.

Me thinking the next Atlantic storm will form before June ends and threaten landmass on the first few days of July. In general I believe we're gonna see the Atlantic getting really active earlier than the previous seasons.

Bret in 1993 and 1999 occurred in August. Why not Bret of 2017? Forgot to input my season numbers in that thread, but I'm thinking 16/8/4.

Same exact numbers as me!

Yes just cause we have a quiet or dead first two months of the season doesn't mean it won't be quite active come August and beyond. Take 2004 for example where Alex didn't form until the beginning of August and the numbers were 15/9/6.

July 1st - 10th. I don't really see anything happening in the near future.

I'm thinking mid-July at the earliest--the overly-active CFS is showing basically nothing until August.

Both of those Bret's were bad news too -- Bret in '93 was one of the worst cyclones to hit Venezuela and Bret in '99 nearly hit Texas as a Category 4.

Slow start doesn't necessarily mean a slow or dead season.
