Are you or anyone in your immediate family "retired"
Not in real life, of course, but from a name list. I thought this might be a fun thread to start, and you'll see why below...
If the name Patricia were to be retired from the EPAC list, that would mean all four of the women in my immediate family would have been "retired" from name lists. My two sisters' names are Camille & Anita, my daughter's name is Isabella (I know, I know...to be precise, the name Isabel, and not Isabella was retired), and my mother's name is Patricia. And assuming that Patricia is, in fact, retired, that would mean all four of the storms that fostered retirement of their respective names reached SSHS category 5.
In addition, my father and I share the name Tony, which, conceivably, could have been retired in 2012 had things evolved such that one other NS formed before the system that became Sandy was named (which Tony came within 36 hours or so of doing). Finally, my other sibling is named Kevin, and his name was already used on this season's EPAC list.

I'm retired (my given name is Andrew, though most people who know me call me Andy) and so are my mom (Carol), my paternal grandmother (Wilma), and one of my aunts (Donna). It wasn't spelled exactly, but Frederic is very close to my maternal grandfather and one of my uncles, just needed a K at the end of it. I also have an uncle named Tom, but he isn't Hispanic so his full name is Thomas instead of Tomas.
I also have several aunts, uncles, and cousins whose names are in rotation, both Atlantic and EPAC, along with my late paternal grandfather. My sister's name is there also, though not spelled exactly like hers is. My dad's name is nowhere to be found, nor my maternal grandmother (though her name has been used once a long time ago for an out-to-sea hurricane).

Many in my family are hurricanes including myself, and both my first and middle names as well are in ATL and EPAC... Maybe around 75% of them
Yet none are retired...

No, but my mom gave birth to my brother while Hugo was making landfall in SC, and she shared a room with a woman who couldn't come up with a name for her kid, so just named it Hugo.

Re: Are you or anyone in your immediate family "retired"
I would be retired if my middle name were translated to english: Andres, which is 'Andrew'.
anywho, my first is German 'Herman', so it's not even on the list.
No one else in my family has a hurricane name or is retired either, although my Dog's name just became listed for 2016...Tobias, or Tobie in this case.

Re:
Worst storm I've ever experienced. It was on the verge of becoming a hurricane when its center passed just south of Barbados. It did a fair bit of damage here. It uprooted a lovely lime tree in my backyard that I replanted but it has hardly borne any limes since.xtyphooncyclonex wrote:Oh yeah, my uncle Tomas was retired.. my mom is (diane).
(I actually think she may have been named for the storm, being born the January after it devastated the northeast in 1955.)

Yep, only used once on top of that. David
I wonder how many names were only used once then retired.
