The Tampa Hurricane of 1921 made landfall in Tarpon Springs as a Cat3. It caused $92 million (2005 USD) in damage.

the tampa bay hurricane is noteworthy for a couple of reasons:
A.)its intensity
B.)the late date on which it struck
C.)it sawed the aptly named hurricane pass that now separates honeymoon island from caladesi island. and perhaps most importantly...
D).it's the last major to strike tampa bay. with luck like that it's no wonder no one in tampa gives a crap about hurricanes. we're pushing a century of good times. after busting on complacency for years, i quietly moved over to the dark side last year... i didn't do jack to prepare for cane season... and i mean nothing. and i did the same this year... absolutely nothing, even though i was convinced we'd have a real barn burner of a season. i'm just worn out from the whole thing. i took a calculated risk.. the odds favor me and i'm very weather aware and i can walk to purchase supplies in the event i need to so i'm rolling the dice from here on out. i liken it to chucking a rock at a hornets nest...it wouldn't be as fun if they couldn't sting.

That does seem to be the motto for tampa...I had to convince my parents to prepare, which I find sad being that my mom went threw Andrew as a Miami-Dade Police officer and she did shelter security which she said was horrible... But anyway Tampa will get Reset like Miami and NO eventually...Charley almost did but again we got lucky. When that Cat. 5 comes roaring in, I hope we aren't like NO citizens were. But only time will tell when Tampa's time comes...
