Just noticed this little feature this morning looking at the Gulf, not much to it. But interesting.

I didn't notice anything unusual there, but I did notice for the first time at 2010 August 2 18Z the GFS shows a storm developing to the east of the Yucatan, then charging into the Gulf and hitting Louisiana as a major hurricane. Previous runs have shown no such thing.

It quickly went poof late this AM, must of been a left over MLC from convection yesterday over Florida.
