Free Hurricane Season 2010 Outlook Update Webinar Next Week

#1 Postby wxman57 » Tue May 25, 2010 3:59 pm

I got the following in my email today. It's from a private weather company in Houston. The webinar is free:

Join us for a free, 20-minute webinar at 10:30CDT on Tuesday, June 1st - the first day of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Hosted by ImpactWeather lead hurricane forecaster Chris Hebert, the webinar will cover some of the changes in the various seasonal forecast parameters that have developed over the past month. Because of these changes, we are going to be making a revision to our projected number of named storms, hurricanes and major hurricanes for the coming season. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the webinar. Registration is free, and a short video on the subject will also be posted and available for clients on the same day.

It will be a busy week releasing forecasts as apart from ImpactWeather, Phil Klozhbach / Dr Gray on June 2 and TSR (Tropical Storm Risk) on June 3 will be out with updated forecasts.I suspect increased numbers on all three.

They go for 18/11/5, El Nino is gone, lower than normal wind shear already, lower pressures and very warm SSTs.

Also higher risk through Caribbean up to the SE US, also elevated risk for Mexico, Carolinas and N.Yucatan, with near normal elsewhere risk.

Also Analog years, 1966, 1995, 1998 and a brand new year....2005!

Biggest news appears to be he addition of the 2005 analog for this season. The webinar will be available later today on ImpactWeather's site along with the PowerPoint Presentation.

The April Update is available now for all to see on their homepage. I suspect the same can be said for the June 1st Update we just participated in.
