850mb vorticity looks very good as well the low level convergence, but if it goes a little north,it will get a haircut. Impressive for being only May 12th.

May be is a double thread... although this is about the first active and the other about the first wave of the year. But again, it seems that is about the same theme.

Exactly, I know it is not the first tropical wave of the season, but is the first Active One.

This wave may not develop at this time but could be a sign of things to come in this upcoming season as tropical waves tend to strengthen out over the Atlantic under predominantly favorable conditions in the comming months. Maybe when it reaches the Western Caribbean it may do something, combining with the wet MJO?

I Agree Ouragan, btw I hope everything is ok in Guadalupe. As you may know, your island is extremely important for us every time that a tropical system is approaching the Caribbean.

There does indeed seem to be some slight turning occuring, though that may also be an illusion of the upper winds ripping the storm clouds off to the ENE.

still its certainly the first wave to show any real activity thats for sure.

Unless something unforseen puts a cabash on the CV season we are in for a very long hurricane season. Last year the CV was shut down, everything exiting Africa dissapeared even in the heart of the season. This does not bode well.

Well, it's given us our second (I think) purple probability dot of the year at least!
