Gulf Oil Slick & Dynamat

#1 Postby Frank2 » Thu Apr 29, 2010 9:10 am

The oil slick might become large enough to be "useful" to those who've always suggested the "Dynamat" treatment of the ocean to lessen the intensity of a hurricane...

Talk about choosing the lesser of two evils...

P.S. Let's pray that the leaks are found and repaired (and let's leave the Dynamat talk for the Internet)...

They are now saying the slick is much worse than initially reported and may not be repaired for months.

What if we have an early-season cane and the Gulf is still full of oil? I don't even want to think about that, really........

House damaged by oil blown by the wind. Insurance would use the polution exclusion.

Nope. Mississippi Farm Bureau would call it a "named event"......it's in the fine print. All wind named events are in the exclusion. In south Mississippi our insurance covers fire......that's it......we even have an earthquake exclusion.

Excuse me....I need to go throw up.

I suppose if there was a big enough spill and the system weren't that intense it could in theory have a small impact, but I agree with you Derek I can't really see that idea ever really working, it would cause far more environmental damage for what would be just a small return...if any.

Thanks for that link to your "Will the oil spill impact hurricane season" comments, Derek.

Could a large GOM oil spill ever alter ocean water surface temperature enough to influence a hurricane? Just wondering. Thanks.
