The great red spot is an anticyclonic storm, so can it be considered a hurricane?

hehe.. yeah but not the point.. just funny.. :P the article and everyone always refers to it as a hurricane so when this particular article said warm core, i found it funny.. and actually it is not known if its a storm at all in the same sense as here on earth, rather than just a vorticity created by fluid dynamical processes.. similar to a whirlpool which is most likely the case..

Yeah thats very interesting, it is quite interesting that the GRS is warm cored, I suppose you could say it rather puts all Earth's warm cored attempts to shame really! :P

hehe well if we take the formation estimates of about 500 years to be correct and assuming warnings would be issued then advisories would be about every 3 hours, then they would be on approximately the 1,460,000 advisory .. lol

You must have a mighty powerful telescope! Is there a picture of that model somewhere online that I can view the specs?

I just use a 8 inch or 20 centimeter Newtonian telescope to see th Great Red Spot. It has a focal length of 1,220 mm or 48 inches. I use higher power around 182x or with a 2x Barlow Lens, 364x.
