Countdown to start of 2010 Atlantic Hurricane season

The days will change at UTC time or 7:00 PM EST until March 14 when daylight saving time starts.By then it will change at 8:00 PM EDT until May 31 when we will ring the new season at Midnight EDT.

Final Countdown towards Midnight EDT

Below is a list of important dates before June 1rst.If any member has the dates of the hurricane conferences,post them and I will add to the list.

1-January 7=BCS Championship, Texas and Alabama in Pasadena, California. **

2-January 18=Martin Luther King Jr holiday. **

3-Febuary 2=Groundhound day. **

4-Febuary 5=National Weatherman's Day. **

5-Febuary 7=Super Bowl game. **

6-Febuary 12-28=2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. **

7-Febuary 14=Valentines day / NBA All Star game / China's new year / Daytona 500. **

8-Febuary 15=Presidents day. **

9-March 1=Storm2k 2010 Atlantic season poll starts / Countdown to June 1 begins. **

10-March 7=The Oscars. **

11-March 8-12=RA IV Hurricane Committee at Hamilton,Bermuda. **

12-March 14=Daylight Saving Time starts. **

13-March 16=Mens Basketball March Madness starts. **

14-March 16-17=Central Gulf Hurricane Conference at Baton Rouge,Louisiana. **

15-March 17=ST Patricks day. **

16-March 20=Spring starts. **

17-March 29-April 2=National Hurricane Conference at Orlando Hilton|Orlando, FL. **

18-April 3=Mens College Basketball Final Four. **

19-April 4=Easter / Major League Baseball season starts. **

20-April 5=Mens College Basketball Championship game. **

21-April 7=Philip Klotzbach / William Gray 2010 Atlantic forecast update. **

22-April 9=Tropical Storm Risk 2010 Atlantic forecast update. **

23-April 15=Income Tax deadline. **

24-April 19=114th Boston Marathon. **

25-April 22=Earth day. **

26-May 1=Kentucky Derby. **

27-May 9=Mothers day. **

28-May 10-14=American Meteorological Society's 29th Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology in Tuczon,Arizona. **

29-May 15=Eastern Pacific season starts / Preakness Stakes. **

30-May 23-28=Florida Governors Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale. **

31-May 27=NOAA releases its first 2010 Atlantic hurricane season forecast. **

32-May 31=Memorial day. **

The hurricane committee meets early this year...that is when we should know what names are retired (doubt there will be any, at least in the Atlantic - as long as Ida is not misrepresented), and what changes to the plans are made.

The hurricane committee meets early this year...that is when we should know what names are retired (doubt there will be any, at least in the Atlantic - as long as Ida is not misrepresented), and what changes to the plans are made.

By the way, it's not the UK RA IV Hurricane Committee meeting; CrazyC83 was referring to Bermuda as part of the UK (which is politically incorrect; it is a self-governing overseas territory ruled by a Governor and not part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). It's just called the RA IV Hurricane Committee meeting.
