At the speed it is moving hurricane status will not happen
Because it will run out of water but in the meantime it will be tropical storm Erika just around 50-60 mph I can say but no more than that [b]unless it goes thru a very rapid phase of development before it makes landfall.

The ridge will be strong to the north to keep moving it west maybe more slow sometimes 15mph and other times 20 mph but between 15-20 mph will be the general speed.

If the LLC gets itself together, we could see this storm deepen very rapidly as it approaches the western Gulf....as Celia and Anita both did....and like 91L, both were small and compact.
If I lived between Tampico and Galveston Bay, I'd keep a very close eye on this system....there's a lot of high octane fuel in the GOM right now...bathwater :o :o
