Analog years - 2008 revisted

#1 Postby SkeetoBite » Wed Jul 30, 2008 9:38 am

Can a Pro Met tell us, based on the CURRENT set up, if the analog years would be different from or remain the same as those used in the early season forecasts by Colorado State and the NHC?

Looking for an updated global view on the current overall conditions for the Atlantic basin. It occurs to me that the "Analog Years" seem to be established for the early seasonal forecast, yet never get updated as conditions change during the season (unless I missed it somewhere).

Thanks-

That is an excellent question. Are the analogs cited in say late May or even earlier still relevant now? I suppose we will get some new info when CSU/NOAA update their forecasts over the next few weeks.

CSU=August 5
NOAA=August 7

Lets see what both will have in their August forecasts.
