CPHC performing hurricane drill - Hurricane Makani

Noticed this on CPHC's website:

They're performing a statewide hurricane drill in Hawaii, using a fictional hurricane named Makani. It runs from today through the 22nd. They have really gone to town here, with a lot of products (and a lot of indicators that this is a drill):

Wow, that's cool. Does the Atlantic ever do that? I know there was Pam a while ago, but I'm not even sure that was a drill.

Just a lookup on online Hawaiian translators (I know, they may suck). According to them (no idea if it's true), "Makani" means "wind", and "Makani pahili" means "hurricane".

But then again, I still have yet to find out what "Ele" means (in regards to the 2002 storm).

And it appears while they spend good time on their drill, they put less effort on their names lists for the year. Behold, for the name "Gil" has been retired and replaced with...Fil? And while they did update their names lists to get rid of Paka and Ioke (and then some), they still didn't get rid of the retired typhoon names. I kind of want to see one of those "replacement for a retired name" storms cross the date line into the CPac. Imagine the confusion of sitegoers when they say that "Tropical Storm Nuri passed into the CPac today", and they go to check the names lists to find the name "Rusa" instead.
