no, I saw the wnw wobble too...it's there...
however, you have to understand how strong this ridge is. this is more typical of an August heat dome. At about 1:00, Lake Charles LA was at 98 degrees. this is record heat. that indicates that this ridge is extremely strong, and that this storm, no matter how strong it is, is going to be able to just move through it. it's basic physics, nothing more, nothing less.
that's not to say this is going to keep heading straight west into southern Texas or northeastern Mexico. it's not. The ridge should slowly start sliding east which will allow the storm to start turning northwest. we just don't know when this will happen. I happen to think landfall will be around the freeport area, probably around 20 miles southwest. however, I could well bust on that (as I have already busted on intensity, pressure-wise). time will tell.
