Now that's a good idea!

As long as those get archived. The reason I like this idea is that in 10 years (if Storm2k still exists, I hope it does) I could go back and see my posts by going to Hurricane Season 2005, then oh let's say Hurricane Emily instead of sifting through hundreds of pages of fluff just to get there.

The only problem I see is that there would be too many subcategories and that would take up bandwidth space. Also, topics like this one, how would they be arranged?

:hmm: didn't even think of that here is exacty what i was thinking
MM-----|----forums----|--M.Forums--|-- Threads--|-------Q&A------
forums>
---------tropical analasis
---------talking tropics>
----------------------------Emily
----------------------------Frenklin>
-------------------------------------What will frenklin do next?
-------------------------------------Will it loop again?>
-----------------------------------------------------------hurricane25254:
--------------------------------------------------------------nah it won't
-----------------------------------------------------------Herocanei9494:
--------------------------------------------------------------I think it will

MM=main munu/ M.forums= more forums

do you know what i mean by all that????

this is what it is now

MM ----|-------forums----|-------threads---------|----Q&A------
Forums>
-----------Tropical analysis
-----------Talking tropics>
-------------------------------Will Franklin loop again?>
-------------------------------obituary-emily
-------------------------------------------------------Huricane25254:
----------------------------------------------------------nah it won't
-------------------------------------------------------herocanei9494:
----------------------------------------------------------I think it will
does this make sense???

i'm going to repeat this because i thik it is a good idea and i'd like your opinions

I think the new way you've been handling the RECON and ADVISORY threads is pretty cool and I've found their timely content VERY useful this year. As for the rest, I don't know why ya'll just don't leave things alone and let the chips fall where they may. As another poster said, the "eye of the beholder" can get really sticky. And if things get "off topic" as DH stated, who cares - that thread will just die a natural death anyway - the examples of such are abundant. Plus, as has been indicated, certain posters can "get away" with violating the supposed rules and yet other posters can't. Guess my point is this - leave it to the member to decide if they want to read/follow/post to a particular thread, no matter its content. If they don't want to, then they just simply don't click the link. And I also agree with the other poster who suggested that a link be added to locked threads that would direct the viewer - but ALWAYS in a friendly and gracious manner - to the more appropriate thread. Bottom line, I like the recon/advisory idea that's stickied - I sincerely appreciate your persistence and attention there!! But, since we can all make appropriate choices for ourselves in what we would like to view or not view, please use extreme caution when "beholding" what threads to lock, delete, limit, or move.

I think it is going well because some real good topics don't get bumped off the first page as fast as they were last year.

Some good ideas. :-) Unfortunately what you're talking about here is sub-forums. Our board software doesn't support sub-forums without installing a mod. The bad thing with mods is that they have to be reinstalled every time the board is upgraded.

How much work would it be to open a new forum each time a system is named and then when it dies move the threads to the Talkin' Tropics forum? That way the threads are saved and useful infomation, links, etc. will be stored.

I like the TT forum the way it is now, but just making a suggestion if people want a separate place to talk about specific storms.
