When can we expect next named storm in Atlantic?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

IF Ernesto is to form in the next few weeks, it will almost certainly be close to shores - probably off the east coast. I don't see anything out of Cape Verde until late August at least, after several big waves eat the SAL.

Off the East Coast is where I think he will form. But Florence probably won't be until August.

Makes sense, and I think Florence will be the first major hurricane of 2012.

Probably off a tropical wave from there, although becoming a major in the western Atlantic or Caribbean.

I think Florence will form in the Gulf of Mexico actually, around August 14-15 or so. I think either Gordon or Helene will be the first CV storm of the year, and that will be another week later. I'm just holding out to see if another storm tries to form off the East Coast after Florence, ala Bertha and Cristobal in 2002. With how this season early on has played out, Gordon forming quickly after Florence off the East Coast would not surprise me in the least.

Something might get cranked up when that front pulls off the coast.

2013, if El Nino continues to form - lest we forget, the 2006 season ended abruptly and completely when the last El Nino began...
