It's not only crazy nasty hot down here, but all over all of America's Atlantic/Gulf coasts and aside from a few, no one seems to understand that hurricanes are nature's AC's! I think we're in for one helluva season!

Stay cool!

I am curious. How many people on this forum actually have an emergency preparedness kit packed and ready?

See my thread on preparing your hurricane kit in the preparedness forum:
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=107866

Lots of good info there on things to add to the kit and other items you'll need when a hurricane hits.

That's a really helpful list.

I have ready what wxman57 has -- big bin filled with the required items. Plus a briefcase with papers and backup disks, and a duffle bag packed with clothes and personal items for bugging out.
I pack one bin with the nonperishable foods, so whether I stay or go that stuff is together.
During the season, I keep rope, tools, sleeping bag and a few other things in the car so they're always there.
I've evacuated five times (or more?) in recent years.
