With all that has happened in the last few years how can anyone play down what this storm might do?? Yes, were still 6 days out, but those days pass quickly. Let's look at it realistically shall we?? About a year or so ago some of the same postings were being said pre Katrina, where they not?? Fear mongering, -removed-, ect...and what happened?? We all know don't we. Do you feel that it can't happen again?? We know better.

Those who panic are those who fail to prepare. It always amazes me how every year when a storm or storms come there is a mad rush at the last minute as all the lemmings react at the same time. If your in harms way then you should already have prepared, already have your supplies, already know what your going to be doing two, three or four days from now. I watched the live EMD conference at 4pm. The General that addressed the media basically said that people are responsible for their own preperations. The government will do what it can but you need to be responsible and proactive. Those that can't or won't found out the hard way last year.

Is this fear mongering and overreacting?? A fair question. Look at the facts. Ernesto is coming...fact. There is little model guidance showing a likelyhood of dissapation....fact. Most of the model guidance brings it into the gulf of Mexico....fact. Most of the model guidance calls it a Cat 3 or possibly more intense....fact. It is quite likely for a major hurricane to impact the gulf coast somewhere towards the end on next week...fact. So, anyone who might possibly be in the affected area should be prepared and ready to go just in case. What's the saying..those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it!!

With many still recovering from last season, their homes still substandard if even standing and given the state of the gulf communities, few are ready to be whacked again by a big storm. Human nature being what it is and a "dud" of a hurricane season so far has fed into most people again falling asleep and being lulled into a stupor. Don't you be one of them. Yes, I know there are many who's hand's are tied and who can't prepare or have nothing to prepare with, that's a given.

But, chances are someone is going to get whacked again and whacked hard whether your ready or not and 5 to 6 days out is certainly not to early to be proactive. People who are prepared tend to not hit the panic button in the last 24 to 48 hours like many of their neighbors will be doing. Don't panic, but don't stick your head in the sand and pretend that it's not coming, because it is!!!
