Look, these guys are in a full court press. The hits are going to keep coming, harder and faster. The lies will get bigger and more frequent.

If this Bill doesn't come out of committee this year and pass on its merit or find its way onto another popular piece of legislation, they have to start all over again next year. Failing The Bill being reported out of committee this year, it has to be re-written and re-enrolled in the Senate for "first reading", then sent out to committee all over again.

Been a longstanding feud between NWS and AccuWeather. This is just another sign that it is still going on.

Unfortunately, it serves no useful purpose to make those kinds of political statements during these hours before the storm.

Best to hold our tongues and revisit this topic when Rita is over...and instead concentrate on where she is going and the impact she will have on her arrival.

Ken Reeves from Accuweather will be on Larry King Live on CNN at 9pm Eastern, they are taking live calls.

This could be your chance to attack Accuweather live on air!

ain't too!

I watch Fox news normally due to the preverted slant of the other cable networks. But they seem to exclusively use accuweather so I may have to find another source for news.

This graphic from the National Hurricane Center is designed to be used by government and emergency management officials.

Hmm - I have to admit - looking at it for myself - it is totally useless - I think in this case it is a good call by a motivated for profit organization to make. In fact, I'm glad they confirmed it. However, for the record, I am totally against Santorium's bill to outlaw the NHC. I think we have a healthy co-existence, Fox pays the big bucks to Accuweather and the NHC does what the gov't can do best in the interest of protecting the public good. :)

I guess my email meant something coming from a PSU address!

Doubt it. I'm fairly certain MANY others also had an impact. Could have also been just an overzealous statement made by an employee that had to be corrected.

Talk about arrogant......

Do you actually understand what information the NHC graphic provides? It allows a person to find out exactly what their individual chances of getting 34, 50, or 64 kt winds are. Someone who knows what their risks are can make more informed decisions.

The original Accuweather caption was flat out wrong, by the way, when they said "Their (NHC's) forecast is for less than a 50% chance of hurricane force winds along the coast of northeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana." That is NOT what the graphic says. The graphic indicates the probability of hurricane force winds at individual locations, not for regions taken as a whole. Not sure whether Accuweather is deliberately conflating individual versus cumulative probabilities or whether they just don't understand the difference themselves.

FoxNews and AccuWeather rule! They both tell it like it is.

Excuse you, there is no need for you to be an (insert explicative here). I doubt you live in State College, so I seriously DOUBT you know about the connection between PSU and AccuWeather. Most off the cuff remarks from the every day Joe, AccuWeather will blow off...and I know. But if anyone in the meteorology department at PSU emails them, they take notice.

OK, number one - you DON'T know where I live. Number two - for all the "JB/accuweather" is arrogant comments made on this board, your remark comes off arrogant itself - like just because little 'ole you sent them an email, they changed it - are you serious?

And yes, living in PA, I DO understand the connection between PSU and them - another wrong assumption.

Furthermore, not sure how my post comes across as being a (insert expletive) since it is only doing the same thing everyone else on this board does to JB and co.

Of all the thousnds of people who read that graphic description, you think way too much of yourself if you believe YOUR email is what led to the change.

Oh yeah, well my dad can beat up your dad.

Just a quick note in case you thought you were at the WWF site; there is a HUGE cat4 hurricane in the gulf. Looks like it's going to hit Texas, but it's so big it looks like its going to hit Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and maybe a bit of Oklahoma before it's all over. You should check it out.

Accuweather or whatever is anything but that.

Their staff needs to work on forcasting not modeling.

TWC does a better job than those yokels.
