Good morning fellow islanders! :sun:

Here in BVI this morning (7am) we have partly cloudy skies, winds light and variable NE, temp 84, dewpoint 75, pressure 29.96. Radar shows some showers coming in.

Special Montserrat zoomed IR really shows the rapid building of showers since 6am.

Forget the blue skies. Totally grey and overcast now. I guess our rain event will be starting shortly.

Sky went dark grey, heavy rain, and then poof, now the sun is
back out again in a watery blue background.
Thank goodness the guy (a minor diety for me) who is working
on building the new star dome for me isn't threatened by rain or much of anything except running out of cigarettes, he just goes into the
gazebo and waits it out.
I imagine the weather roller coaster is going to last awhile...

I thought this would be a good time to test the capabilities of the things I've been working on with Google Earth.

The .kmz file I uploaded contains the Puerto Rico short-range and long-range radar from NWS (which is roughly scaled in the right position), plus the placemarks for Storm2K members in the area. Hopefully it'll work!

15 minutes (so far) of horizontal rain, in about 20kts of wind, gusting higher. Defintely what I term a "squall". It's starting to let up now.

Hmm... I think you have to have Google Earth open before you click on the link. If it is open and you're still getting it, try right-clicking and selecting "Save Link As..." (or "Save Target As..." depending on your browser). I clicked on it myself and it worked for me.

Stay safe everyone in the islands. Will be watching this thread carefully. I have my dad in Coqui and my Grandmother in Bayamon. So I am a little concerned.
