Yeah, my dad is freaking out. He is acting like a big know it all. And acting like the NHC does not know what it doing. I guess he can't forget his experience with Betsy. He said it ain't over til it is over. He said it could still change back to us at the last minute. He needs to take a chill pill. He was going hysterical because my brother was going back home to his trailor tonight. It is only Friday and Dennis still did not even merge in the Gulf yet.

Anyway, just wanted to point that out, I have no idea where the damn thing is going.
and earlier, when Dennis was moving between NNW and NW, you were probably insisting on the NHC's track. Look, it goes both ways, it gets us no where with people pointing this out. No reason to "join sides" on this; this isn't a game or a competition. It's ridiculous the way some of you have acted this week.
My rant is done.
I think everyone is just stressed out... I hope Emily decides to wait a week or two... it'll take that long to recover from this.

it seems that everyone is either worried about being in a hurricane or wanting to be in one. it is what it is. I am a hurricane magnet everytime I move I end up in one. All we should do is be well prepared.Pray for those in the path, Listen to the NHC (they do forcast storms for a living if anyone forgot), and enjoy the beauty and the aww of watching one of mother natures greatest creations.

Yall are right, since the NHC didn't predict the westward movement, it's obviously all an illusion........
You know I did notice a more westerly movement, but Dixie was just pointing something out. There shouldn't have been a comment directed to being from Florida it had nothing to do with it. What if someone from your neck of the woods would have pointed that out would you still have commented on it. I highly doubt it.
Sorry....I'm done : )

IM certainly not -removed- it to Louisiana, but there IS a west trend and it has been going on for SEVERAL frames, not just a wobble. Its probably due to land interaction and weakening of Dennis, but it CANNOT BE IGNORED. Currently the storm is left of track and no matter what the NHC says, that means it is just htat much more unexpected. It could easily veer back on track stairstep style, but until it does, it has a definitely wnw//nw movement. Id say this even if I was in New York or something, I mean its obvious it isnt following NHC track

Dennis is stairstepping its way across Cuba tonight. Wobble left, wobble right, this happens all the time with hurricanes. Looks to me that Dennis will emerge back into the GOM in a couple of hours. Havana will likely be on the western edge of the eye wall. I expect Dennis to be around 110mph when he hits the water. Hopefully, Dennis' inner core has been disrupted by the long passage over Cuba today. We won't know that until recon goes back in. Dennis does look pretty good on Key West radar considering he has been over land for so long.......MGC

This is only my opinion.
When Dennis got extremely strong he abruptly turned to the right, into the ridge. When he hit land and weakened, he turned back toward the NHC official track. It looks to me like now he will be leaving Cuba just a little ways to the east of Havana, but it's close.
And in my opinion, the previous history of Dennis "may" indicate that as Dennis gets stronger, he may dig harder into the ridge, or more poleward. I think that landfall will very likely be on some south-facing coast, but perhaps the ultimate U.S. landfall will in part be determined by how much this hurricane regains his strength, the strength that was present prior to his second Cuba landfall.

Yes... No question its gone beyond the point (west) it should have exited the island. I'll say right now we'll see some mention of that in the 11pm discussion.

This is right on track. My thinking, too.

I've been hoping that myself. If his core is disrupted enough, it'll take a while before it starts strenghtening again. It seems like that happened to some storm a year or two ago....I just can't remember which one.
