This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

they have holes in their coverage for precipitation it looks like,

Clay County (just south of Jacksonville) has had way more than the 4-5 inches this month. Some areas had 5+ inches just on saturday due to heavy cells that pass through. Heavy localized flooding.

They expect another 3-4" today with some areas getting 6+.

It isn't getting better anytime soon.

Just took a look at the radar . Storms already firing up. Heading from se to nw. I would like a break from all this rain. Just imagine if something was to form and move slow over Florida  There would be no where for the water to go.

It appears that the estimate is taken from doppler radar estimates, which tend to underestimate rainfall in heavy events.

Someone will have to verify for me (as I am mildly colorblind), but it looks to me like the analysis does not to show nearly enough rain for Naples (as of yesterday they were at 20.86" month to date).

From the Melbourne FL, 10:30am discussion:

ORLANDO IS EXPERIENCING ITS 4TH WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD WITH 14.51"
SO FAR THIS MONTH. THIS IS THE WETTEST JUNE SINCE 1974 WHEN 15.28"
FELL. THE RECORD IS 18.28" IN 1968. WITH MORE RAIN EXPECTED NEXT FEW
DAYS...EXPECT THIS JUNE TO END UP BEING ONE OF THE 3 WETTEST FOR
ORLANDO

And, as I write this, we are experiencing a torrential downpour in Seminole County with quite a bit of lightning. My entire meighborhood is flooding

Take a look:

It seems to be feast of famine. I know I would kill for rain. It has been almost a month with really no measurable rain (I think we have .05"). Wish a little of that would move our way.

We had a quick & heavy downpour in my neighborhood, now we're down to some excellent thunder-boomers.

I have a feeling we're right down the street from each other...

Driving to work this morning, the radio announcer said that our weather would be (and this is a direct quote here!):

"Rain this morning followed by afternoon showers" <sigh>

It was raining when I got to work....raining when I had to run out at lunch....raining when I drove home.....and it's raining now.

Here in Santa Rosa County, just to the east of Pensacola...we haven't had a DROP of rain since Arlene made landfall. Amazing how different the weather is throughout the state. We were suppose to have a 80% chance today...Nothing. Amazing how drenched you guys are...and how dry my lawn is.

Rainy Season

#36 Postby sprink52 » Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:08 am

The up side of the rain is that all my palm trees are loving it. I fertilized every thing in May and now my palms are putting on a new frond every ten days and the St. Augustine is growing 6 to 8inches per week!! Man, I sure am glad we hired that lawn guy!

Enjoy your rain while you've got it, you never know when you'll go into a drought cycle. :D <<as I sit here watching my grass get browner and browner! >>

No kidding - we've only had two days with rain this month, lots of
watering the grass. There's not much more depressing that drought
conditions, no or few clouds, no rain, intense heat - it is misery!
