Is that sarcasm? Or are you serious?Ixolib wrote:PrincessTiger wrote:Will they send planes into anymore today?????
They just reported here that the surf is about 12feet from the back steps of the FloraBama now, for those that know where that is.
Good thing they built the FlorBama like they did - no solid walls south to north - just a big area that'll let the surge flow through. Smart move on their part.

Mesovortexes?? Please explain?
Mesovortices are bursts of wind, usually within the eyewall windfield that are similar to tornadoes. Areas hard hit usually look as if tornadoes have hit (ex - Andrew) rather than a large wind event.

No, serious. It's built so that the surge can flow through, thereby resulting in relatively little structural damage.

Kind of like Isidore? Isidore's pressure dropped to 934 mb at landfall on the Yucatan, but sustained winds were at 125 mph. Did Isidore pretty much run out of time for the winds to increase?

Man that sat image is scary. I don't think it'll hit Cat 5 b/c waters are shallow along the coast but 145-150mph looks very possible before it hits land. I fear for Mobile big time. This is that major city strike people have been worrying about. True it's not 1 mi in pop but around half a million could get affected by the eyewall between Mobile and areas just to west of the eye.
