If the high erodes or shifts east this could bring Ivan futher north before the trof pulls out and it shifts him nw and eventually nne. Our local said the models didn't have this north motion when they were run and he also said it could be temporary. It's a wait and see gameBellarose wrote:Rainband wrote:Time will tell. If anything Dennis downplays things. I hope he is wrong but of and interesting note check out the pressure tendency today.
Newbie question....but what does the pressue tendency mean to the forecast/track and if gets shifted to the right?

I think what people are missing here is that we in Florida have had hell from these past storms and while i am sure there are those that want some action, they belong in a rubber room IMHO, the majority of us are concerned and to some that appears that we want a storm. That couldn't be futher from the truth...at least for me.

Ya know, I used to look forward to hurricanes when I lived in RI. But after only being here for 5 months, I'd be ecstatic to never see another one. Northern weather can't hold a candle to the weather down here. By the end of this season, I think we'll all be raging alcoholics or on anti-anxiety meds if this keeps up. K...sorry to stray off topic.

Denis is on 28, if you have DirectTV.
I like his local weather forecasts the best because he seems to give the most explanation for the conditions and predictions. I've watched all the others in the area, including the other weather forecasters on local ABC, and it's like listening to a brief summary of the weather by comparison.

Agreed Rainband... speaking for myself here, I've seen business drop by 90% in the last three weeks (I own an automotive repair shop here on the Cape), and would LOVE nothing more than to get back to normal as it's hitting me where it hurts....my livelyhood. I'm still grateful seeing as how the automotive repair business in Charlotte county is basically gone after Charley .. at this point i'm just wishing Ivan would just "get on with it already.."

Just wanted to add that Dennis also said he had been on the phone with Tampa NWC and the NHC and they were well aware of the NNW motion but had already sent out the package.Would monitor it more and could be updating at 11pm package. I also heard the Baynews9 met say something similar about the next advisory. Hoping that we are still out of the TS wind range though. We'll see at 11 I guess
I agree with all of you about Dennis. He is my favorite too. He seems to go into more detail than the other channels. Might I add Dennis is on
ABC which is Accuweather. He even went to college with Bastardi

Here's the results of ther St. Pete Times Online Poll of OCM for the Tampa Bay area from the past couple of days:
Dick Fletcher, Tampa Bay's 10 5488 votes - 40%
Denis Phillips, 28 Action News 3635 votes - 27%
Steve Jerve, News Channel 8 1994 votes - 15%
Paul Dellegatto, Fox 13 1365 votes - 10%
Alan Winfield, Bay News 9 1120 votes - 8%
I personally like Denis & Paul FAR more than Dick Fletcher...but apparently others don't feel the same.

I do not wish this on anyone. I do not wish this to hit hard into biloxi or mobile or the panhandle.
Here in New Orleans, i simply know the stories we have been told for years and years of a slow moving cat 4 coming at us. Those were always stories. Maybe not anymore.
This is certainly no fun. I will be leaving very early Wed morning to avoid traffic, u nless this turns away tomorrow, as some say it will, and some say it wont.
I do not wish it on anybody, but I do wish it would just not come here.
