Hey Vb I havent seen any posts from you in awhile....saving your ammo for later in the track? being a fellow Houstonian I look to you for insight on where Ivan might go. Any thoughts on the predicted trough that will save TX?? If it misses it we could be in alot of trouble....

Rock, I have addressed my thoughts elsewhere in the HH forum. Basics are I am not sure about the trough picking up Ivan. If he continues as far South as he is currently tracking, he indeed begins to become much more of a worry for those of us in the Western GOM. Fact is earlier today I emailed my Mom near Destin and told her to be ready to head here over the weekend. Now I may have to retract that suggestion. I really need to take some time to ingest more of the models and sat pics to make some judgements as to what I see, but for the time being, I do not see Ivan going as far North and East as is currently being depicted.

Amen, Sistah!!! LOL

Wait until it's dull-dull, wx wise, and the off topic board is STILL addicting. Used to be I'd check email first when getting on the computer first thing every morning. Now I check Storm2K!

And yes Cajun that Chat Room is very addicting. Especially when a cane is looming offshore. I tend to lurk, soaking up the discussions going on. That is even addicting. I don't live in Florida, far from it, but it still is more interesting than other sites.

My family has never understood this fascination with wx I have. I like to "blame" it on my dad.....LOL He worked for years in construction, first as a skilled carpenter (back when houses were built to last) and then as a foreman. You can imagine why he was curious what the forecast would be..... However my husband's approach to wx is to just - look out the window! So when I'm logged onto the boards or watching TWC and/or CNN for live Frances updates and now unfortunately Ivan updates, I sure get the rolled eye look. I really annoy them when I chime into a current news story/event discussion with - I heard on my wx board or some are saying on my wx board such and such.....that is when they want to DISCONNECT me!

addicting

#30 Postby Taffy » Wed Sep 08, 2004 7:13 am

I had to join officially when I read this post. I found this site after Charley and I am addicted too. I have learned so much and actually relied more on you guys to tell me what is going on and what REALLY might happen. The weatherman on tv have to be cautious and they cannot discuss/tell what you all do. I appreciate the candor and the broad facts. I am checking almost hourly sometimes. The conversations are educational and entertaining as well. Thank you. I am in Cape Coral, Fl
