With the center possibly 90 miles away from the islands including Puerto Rico, sustained winds would easily be up to tropical storm force with gusts possibly approaching hurricane force. Huge waves and swells will likely occur on the north facing beaches of the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the northern Leewards. Definitely something to keep an eye on as every small shift in the track will be very critical with time.

This evening another little jog to the WSW has been seen and those kinds of wobbles represent a few more miles more closer when Frances passes to the north of the islands.Let's keep watching that eyes movement.

I assume and hope all in the islands know about the Storm Carib site. They have some great tools like "how close will it get to my island" and they post updates from "weather watchers" on the various islands. There are lots of folks there who have been through MANY major hurricanes and I'm sure would be glad to provide advice to other islanders. Here's the link to the main site:

This is one confusing storm. Any other storm in that location I would be saying adios. This storm you might end up boarding the east facing windows. Stay tuned.

Now not good news for the islands as the winds has expanded in area now tropical force winds 125 miles from the eye and hurricane force winds 85 miles.So it will be crucial for the islands to see the eye pass more than 200 miles to be safe but those latest jogs to the WSW haved been not good for us.
