This has been a year of big anomalies though. Summer is basically just beginning for us in the Midwest. We've had some hot weather, but nothing like is forecast for the next week or two. Indianapolis hasn't even made it to 90 yet...almost a record.
Just because a storm hasn't made it to Texas after Oct in recent history, doesn't mean it can't do it or hasn't happened previously. I realize the chances are very slim, but it would only take a certain slightly anomalous pattern to throw something into the TX coast.
