So how many heads will roll?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

[quote="donsutherland1"]Medic8ed,

Forecasting is not something that has achieved perfection. There can be surprises. Indeed, CNN reported this evening:

Hurricane Charley suddenly turned toward the Fort Myers-Port Charlotte area Friday afternoon. The storm was originally forecast to make landfall around 8 p.m. ET in Tampa Bay where preparations were focused.

Thank you, donsutherland. For the benifit of several ongoing threads, that needed to be said as simply and as plainly as you did. Many have- in a round about sort of way- suggested that Charley's eventual track contained no suprises at all.

If I said what I wanted to say about the original post in this thread i would have to ban myself. As a resident of St Petersburg I am extremely proud of our elected officials and emergency management folks. They did exactly what had to be done under the circumstances. They should all get great kudos for the last few days!. We just got lucky that the turn came when it did! A strike by Charley would have been beyond devastating.
