2. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
A tropical wave accompanied by a broad area of low pressure is
located off the west coast of Africa. Some gradual development is
possible, and the system could become a short-lived tropical
depression over the far eastern Atlantic during the next few days.
By late this week, environmental conditions are forecast to become
increasingly unfavorable for further development. Regardless, the
system could bring locally heavy rainfall to portions of the Cabo
Verde Islands on Wednesday.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
Showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low
pressure located between the west coast of Africa and the
Cabo Verde Islands have become slightly better organized. Some
gradual development is possible, and the system could become a
short-lived tropical depression over the far eastern Atlantic during
the next couple of days. By late this week, environmental
conditions are forecast to become increasingly unfavorable for
further development. Regardless, the system could bring locally
heavy rainfall to portions of the Cabo Verde Islands through
Thursday.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent.

That one (splashdown on 9/3) is probably going to recurve too. It’s the following wave, the one that exits on 9/6, that’ll exit much further south and be one to watch.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Rene in 2020 came off about this point and barely made tropical storm intensity despite being much better organized and with significantly better background conditions.

This just isn't a great place to exit in a WNW-NW trajectory.

2. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
Recent satellite wind data indicate that a broad area of low
pressure is located just to the northeast of the Cabo Verde Islands.
Although shower and thunderstorm activity associated with the
system has diminished since earlier today, there is still a
potential for the system to become a short-lived tropical depression
within the next day or so before environmental conditions become
unfavorable for further development. Regardless, the system could
bring locally heavy rainfall to portions of the Cabo Verde Islands
through Thursday.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
