Well, this doesn't have to do with the mean system, but the wave-esque component it spawned to the east of Curacao is producing rough surf and strong rip currents on eastern side the island. One person has already reportedly drowned : (

We had quite a bit of rain this afternoon and into the early evening hours, accompanied by fairly frequent thunder & lightning but everything has abated now.

Same to you, my friend. You folk in Guadeloupe may be in for tons of rain tonight. During the past hour or so we had some fresh southerly winds but they have now diminished to just a gentle breeze.

Tomorrow (like today) is a public holiday in Barbados and we were planning a picnic on the east coast. We were hoping that most of the rain would have passed by then but now, judging from the most recent satellite loops, I'm not so sure. I see what looks like a pretty strong line of convection forming to our southeast and the whole area seems to be moistening up quite a bit. :(

From stormcarib.com :rarrow: http://stormcarib.com/reports/current/dominica.shtml

- Very bizarre weather!
•By Lisette Stevens <jaco.lass at gmail.com>

We had a very, very peaceful night. We heard no thunder and saw no lightning! We had been prepared for the worst; we did not even hear any real rain on our roof and we have to report we overslept this morning. We are so relieved hopefully there should be no landslides and not very much damage. Just maybe the Heavens were looking down on Dominica as we have had our trials and tribulations this week!! We have read that our sister island Martinique had the brunt of the storm so we hope that there is not too much damage. This has been a wake up call and that all of us are very ready if this is going to be an active season! We hope this system does not form into a hurricane and affect another island or indeed the mainland.

We just had a squall come through here dropping like 0.3 in. of rain in a few minutes, steady wind of 35 mph – and a gust of 51 mph! Deck furniture blown all over the place.

I am on the SE side and had the same thing happen.

we had the same thing over in St. Maarten. One squall this morning around noon gave us almost one inch of rain in about 1/2 hour and this last squall gave us another 3/4 inch.
squalls seems to be coming in fast and furious but don't last long.

any reports from Puerto Rico? Hope they don't get flooded out. Neither Haiti nor DR either.

Hi msbee. i live in Rincon, PR (western tip of island. Quiet now but expecting some bands to come in. I have a weather station that should stay up as long as I have my broadband and electric. Not expecting a big wind impact but am worried about the rains as others have said. It has been very wet. Hopefully it stays up and running and gives some folks good information. Updates every 7-10 seconds.

51mph  that's robust for a gustywind. Thanks for this report. Hope that all is ok.
