hahaha...well hopefully you aren't telling us to merely JUMP from that 9th story! haha

Seriously, we know what to do and are so "on top of it" regarding these storms and what needs to be done. We have both been through a few doozies ourselves, which is why we purposefully selected this building to live in. I feel it is one of, if not the safest, in the county.

I worry for all the old folks who are in the building too, and especially those who live in the single story homes around us. They didn't leave when Charlie was on our doorstep, electricity was cut off, and the bridges to the mainland raised. IF that storm had followed "the line", they would probably have been killed. One gentlemen I saw downton commented to me that afternoon, "it sure seems quiet on the beach today, is there a red tide?" --he had absolutely no idea that a storm was supposed to have hit us that day! He said he rarely watches any tv and unless he has his hearing aids in, doesn't hear much. So all the police, firetruck, and announcements...including the automated phone calls, were missed! And he was one of many who were completely unaware!

We figured that we would stay to round up all the sheople and protect the flock until real help could arrive days later. Plenty of food, water, medical supplies, etc. to help get folks through.

With only a half mile to the beach this place would have been pretty scarey compared to my prior house 6 miles inland. Poor construction and proximity to the surge will have me thinking evacuation for a first.

A little bit back from the Caribbean sea but also 80 feet up on a bluff. All concrete block construction storm shutters and a reinforced poured concrete roof. Made it through OMAR (CAT3) OK but that was a near miss and winds never exceeded 80MPH.
