Great point Jschlitz...

The pros here have been emphasizing this as well.

Well Said jschlitz! It becomes moot as the season progresses unless storms are going over the same water..then depth counts as well for recovery.

It looks like the temps right off the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the FL panhandle are a little warmer than average. I remember some talk from last year about Dennis weakening right before landfall due to cooler than average temps in the area. Very interesting.

Heat Content in Atlantic,Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico

:uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow:

The Heat Content looks like is expanding in the basin from what it was in the past 3 weeks.

Anomalies and Currents at GOM

:uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow:

This graphic shows what is going on with the loop current in terms of how warm it is.It 's warm but not a extreme warm situation right now.But that could change in the comming weeks as the peak of the sun angle reaches the limit on June 21,the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.

You know Cycloneye maybe we should limit the amount of times we say "the SST's are not as warm as last year's" because sometimes it might cause people who haven't joined our forum but are just reading our posts to think that this year will be an easy year.
