I agree we had the surface obs/visible to tell us that this system was a tropical distrabance. But did not have the west wind to become a depression. If it doe's not become a depression durning the next 24 hours before moving into DR/Hati you can forget development of this system.

Independent of looking for a closed circulation, recon gathers a lot of data which goes into the model initalizations.

I wouldn't call this a waste.

I agree X-Y....I wouldn't call any flight a waste of money...they could do research and many other activities that could provide benefits in the future and model guidance. Geez folks have some faith in the NHC.

By the time there recon gets into this tomarrow afternoon it will most likely be moving over DR/hati. Yes its looking like its trying to develop but will it have the time to do so. Jeanne formed alot like this system but this system is much much weaker. The DR/hati distoryed Jeanne to the point that she had to redevelop. I don't have alot of faith for this sysem being strong enough to do so.

There appears to be a broad LLC, but with no recon to watching it there is really nothing to the south. To give us any signs if theres a developing west wind.
