2019 and 2020 Cyclones Retirement (both years to be announced in 2021)

I'd guess Dorian will be retired, along with (if any) 2020 names, at the 2021 conference - there will be 2 years to deal with there. After all, we still have 5 more years before we get back to that point.

Makes sense, health first rather something we could wait on for ages.

Staying indoors, and honestly I'm getting more and more worried by the day for my grandparents especially. They're leaving the over 80s behind according to what the media have said... we've been forced indoors and the police are guarding everyone. The streets are quiet, people hardly go out unless they really need food. But I get by. I'm at home right now with my family, was like that for the past week and a bit. I've never left my house for that time period. The North has it worse but still, we're worried. I'm glad you've asked. How about you?

I’m sure we’ll hear something about the retirement of Dorian at some point before the end of 2020. After all it was one of the strongest hurricanes to make landfall anywhere in the Atlantic basin tying with the 1935 FL Labor Day hurricane in terms of wind speeds at landfall. The Bahamas are still struggling a full six months later to make rebuilding progress, especially Marsh Harbor in Great Abaco.

What reason would they have for doing that though? Yes the meeting was held via video chat and not everyone could attend but that doesn't mean they couldn't make room to vote on the new names.

Everything in 2020 has been postponed to 2021 at this point.

Makes sense, I just kinda figured out they'd just talk about the upcoming season (and maybe how to deal with it if there's still the outbreak going on) but thanks for the sauce!

Imagine those three and more names in 2020 getting retired... that's an awful lot to get through...

At least the name won't come back up until 2025 no matter what, so they have time. They'll do double duty in 2021.

I'd lean strongly against Lorenzo since the only place it really hit was the Azores and not too seriously. Imelda...a year could let it slip especially if 2020 is a disastrous season. But there's no way Dorian escapes next year.
