Winds continue to quickly spread north. Winds at Miami International are now gusting to 25mph, and in Homestead they are gusting to 31mph. These numbers are a far cry from the 7mph winds Miami was reporting 2 hours ago, and they should only continue to increase as we head through the afternoon.

Closer to the center, winds are even higher. In Key West they are now gusting to 51mph, in Marathon they are gusting to 40mph, and Long Key is gusting to 51-55mph.

Just had our first small rain shower - didn't last long and no wind to speak of.

I have birds today in my yard again - didn't have any for the last two days - I think that is a good sign - I hope!!

If the center continues moving N at 14mph throughout the rest of today, and assuming landfall is right at Naples, then this storm should be coming ashore in about 9 hours (~12am). If Fay speeds up or comes ashore further south, then it would be sooner, and if Fay slows down or comes ashore further north, it would be later.

No matter what, it is definitely going to be an interesting evening! I hope everyone is prepared.

The center is smack dab over Key West right now. Winds are calm with a pressure near 1001mb.

Blahhhh....it has done nothing but rain here in Homestead ALLLLLLLL day....great for the lawns and the lakes, but man it's dreary out there. Some good wind would be nice.

Little while ago, some brief, but very heavy rain. Wind minimal. Been dumped upon, rain-wise, here in my area.....South Miami/Pinecrest.

Yeah, I would prefer a bit of wind with all this rain. The feeder bands don't seem to be coming and going as quickly as they usually do.....seems to be some training and dumping going on at times.

Looks like an intense band rising up from the upper Keys. Miami-Dade is gonna be nailed by this one within the next half-hour.

Also nasty looking thunderstorm complex with a noticeable arc structure in the Broward coastal waters.

A couple of good squalls (thunder, lots of lightning and some gusts) this morning but other than those; just some light rain with moderate mixed in.

I don't know if it was much different down south in Broward and Dade but my kids went to school here and arrived quite safely. Unless the weather was radically different in Broward and Dade (and I have seen nothing on S2K to indicate it was); it was ridiculous to have cancelled schools there.
