Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 13,2005

While being laden with lots of moisture, the Gulf of Mexico is rather
quiet today. There is a trough across the central GOM, in the wake of
the ULL that moved North across the GOM this week. An upper level
low approaching the Florida Peninsula will trigger more rain there today.
I do not expect tropical cyclone formation in the Gulf of Mexico in the
next 48-72 hours.

Especially with those SST's. I'm surprised we've been so lucky as to not have a storm since Gert in the GOM... and before that, Emily. It could really be chaotic the next time a storm enters the Gulf.
