I notice a lot of people mention the sound of the wind...9 years old during Hurricane Frederic and that is the main thing I remember. The wind blowing and sounds like it is out to get you and everything in its path.

Interesting that in Frances I don't remember hardly even hearing the wind except for occasional gusts. 15 mph difference can be huge.

I had a friend who still had a landline for a few hours after Ivan passed through. I remember talking to my wife who had evacuated to Birmingham. She was telling me about the bridge. I actually saw it in person a couple of days later before I ever saw any pictures of anything. It was hard to believe until I actually saw it. I do remember the DI bridge met a similar fate during Frederic.

I'm sure this has already been talked about before but I was reading an article last week on Ivan and it mentioned that scientist ascertained that there was at least one wave that was 90ft. and approx. 25 more that were at least 50 ft. or higher...it did mention that these were different from Tsunami waves but I was just astounded by this...
