JB hypes people up like greatidiot and trick them to pay for his hyping 'misinfomed' services.

Well he did come out last week and state that he thinks the Carolinas and South Florida will be hit by a major, Texas the NE US and Canada will be hit by Hurricanes as will the MS/AL/NWFL zone. So if that's "great idiot" hype or misinformed, go ahead and put something on the table better than that or wait and see if it verifies. I know he's guilty of getting carried away with stuff, but you don't have to be so negative. If you've got something better to offer, I'm all ears.

I used to like JB and he can be right some of the time but all he does during the winter is hype. For example, last winter he kept screaming COLD from November from the Plains east. Each week he kept pushing it back and it finally came mid January! And all he does is call every single tiny cloud mass to become a major winter storm for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast...this last statement was a bit exaggeration, but seriously he hypes too much. 20% of the time he ends up being correct, but most of the times his ideas or forecasts don't come to fruition. Or if it happens, not to the extent he predicted.

Anyway Happy Birthday to the man.

Happy B-day JB!

Been reading him since '98. Seems like when he's right, he's dead right and when he's wrong, well he's dead wrong too.

I've seen him forecast some amazing things that ultimately came to fruition, such as the downfall of Isidore getting raked by the Yucatan, and the loop Ivan did and came back to Texas (when he first put that idea out people thought he was on crack).

But he's had plenty of misses too, such as forecasting that Dennis and MOM landfall right up until the bitter end.

I think we have all had our fair share of both, and it's a bit unfair to label him a quack. If anything, he does deserve credit for his tenacity, his passion, and at least for trying to think outside the box.

And I have to say, any Met who is willing to cast aside the models and follow the old "look outside the window first" rule is someone I have to respect.

(edit for grammar)
