Today in the Western Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and GOM

I don't know how often I'll be able to generate these, but here goes.

First, notice the dry air becoming entrained into Tropical Storm Franklin.
This will contribute to the demise of Franklin within a day or two.

A tropical wave is moving inland into Central America with no development expected (red line along 84W)

There's a harmless blob north of Venezuela (circled in green)

Another tropical wave (tilted SW to NE) is moving west with very
little convection as it is in an area of dry air and dust from the
Saharan Air Layer (SAL). No development is expected here as well.

Speaking of the SAL (circled in yellow), it is progressing westward and
may offer spectacular sunrises and sunsets in Florida in the next few
days, as the sunlight hits the dust particles. This may also be problematic
for allergy/asthma sufferers.

In summary, there's nothing of concern west of 40 degrees today.
We may make it a few days with no new activity - woohoo!!

There are several disturbances lined up across Africa and into the Eastern
Atlantic, which may be interesting to watch in upcoming days, but right
now are outside of the scope of this product.

I am looking forward to some interesting sunsets with the dust rolling in. I do however sympathize with allergy sufferers.

Looks like we might indeed be getting a short rest, although the waves getting ready to roll off of Africa look formidable. I guess we have to wait and see what they will do when they get out over water.

Even though I find the tropics and what they can produce quite exciting, I could use a few weeks with a little less excitement.

Interesting. Thanks for the graph. So I get a few minutes of sleep without worry about a tropical system coming toward me.
