Will this warm water temps be able to feed canes up there??
REPORTING UNUSUAL OCEAN WATER TEMPERATURES IN AND AROUND NEW YORK CITY
Water temps upwards of 80 degrees reported!!
Weatherman Sam Champion on WABC-TV Channel 7 in New York says he simply "doesn't believe it." When challenged to go out to Montauk Point and take a reading himself, he shrugged it off and repeated "I simply don't believe it."
Ocean Water temperatures in the New York City, New Jersey area at this time of year are usually 70 - 72 degrees.
A major shift in the ocean gulf stream was the premise for the Hollywood blockbuster movie, "The Day After Tomorrow" which realistically portrayed horrific climate change as a result of critical desalinization of ocean water. The desalinization occurred when warm gulf waters caused massive melting of fresh water ice in the north, which then resulted in inverted hurricanes forming over land, bringing sub-zero temperature air down to ground level from the stratosphere. These inverted hurricanes brought forth an "ice age" on most of north america. So here we are, on July 20, 2005, we see radical changes in ocean water temperatures is being outright disbelieved by the media! If a radical change in the gulf stream brings warm water too far north, the climate results could be incredibly destructive.
Details to follow as more info becomes available.

give it a rest with the BREAKING NEWS headlines...this is most certainly NOT breaking news...
perhaps we can summarize what could be breaking news...a new storm actually forming, a serious drop in pressure in a storm, Brooke Burke doing a live shot from South Beach...(ok maybe not that one)
puhleeze....chill out with the over-HYPE...

TPACane04, when you normally have 70 degree water temps that jumps to 80 its a big deal, maybe not in your house, but in the real world it is breaking news. I think you need to get out of the woods and see the light a little. I have seen worse breaking news..
