Twin hurricanes in the Atlanitc seem quite possible!
It is rare but we may now be looking at what is the beginning of twin hurricanes in the Atlantic. Emily and Franklin. Soon to be Emily is just undergoing a little bit of wind shear but once she reaches the Caribbean she will prosper with the upper 80's water temp. Franklin on the other hand is at about 7 or 8 degrees west longitude and is already feeling the warm waters of the Atlantic and is ready to become TD 6 anytime as TD 5 is about to become Emily. The gulf has had their share of tropical threats and hits so now its the east coast of the US turn to be in line for a hit from two in a row. All models are forecasting Emily to track west to WNW through the northern Caribbean hitting the Dominican Republic and toward the SE united states. The Bermuda high is expected to weaken over the us due to Dennis but is expected to strengthen over the northern and eastern Atlantic. Due to this Emily and Franklin will track W to WNW and threaten the SE united states one right after another.
