Why a wobble matters!

#1 Postby tampastorm » Sat Jul 09, 2005 10:58 am

For every that said wobbles dont mean anything, think of this. Last night when Dennis went across Cuba and "wobbled" west for several hours if this "wobble" was north instead of 175 west of the FL west coast, Dennis might be 75 miles off the coast. Which can be the difference between Hurricane force and TS force winds. Just my 2 cents.

Wobbles can definitely matter. No doubt about that. The problem is when people argue for hours over every single frame and every little wobble.

The westerly move over Cuba was a huge "wobble". That did indeed make the difference between a cat 2 passing within 30 miles or so of Key West vs a cat 1 passing 100 miles west.

But the wobbles people obsess over in general aren't that kind of shift, they're the normal sinusoidal motion of the eye around an average track.

One more thing, is it just me or is there a "wobble" thread noticeable near the top of the page everytime I come to this board? :D

That's a great, very concise description!
