Is this the worst case scenario for New Orleans hurricane impact or is this better than if the storm was coming from the northeast?

Not many "hurricanes" can approach the city from the NE.

Well, I mean direction wise.

The hurricane is in the gulf and moving either NW or NE towards New Orleans.

I believe the storm surge would be greatest if the storm was moving Northwest toward New Orleans.

Northwest.

The nightmare track is actually more WNW, landfall at the Mouth of the Mississippi or just a few miles north and then tracking just south of the city putting the entire area in the northern eyewall and inudating the city under feet of water. Anyone there would drown.

Have a nice evening.

Worst case would be a hurricane going through Grand Isle like Betsy did.
