It looks like August

It is only very early in July and take a look at the big Atlantic pic.The ITCZ is active with impressive waves embedded with it rolling out of Western Africa. Also you can see that the midlatitud features are well north of the deep tropics and that is a sign that things will start a bit more earlier in the Cape Verde region. With the very warm anomalys in the MDR area in the Tropical Atlantic between Africa and the Lesser Antilles that is another factor in favor of a more early Cape Verde season.Hopefully all the systems go fishing away from the Caribbean but I know that not all will do that and that is why I am prepared for the worse here in Puerto Rico but hoping for the best and also hoping that our fellow islanders around the Caribbean dont be affected by a powerful hurricane this season.

That's quite impressive. It's a nonstop train all the way to Africa and then some.

As I have said for two months, the Atlantic seems to be about one month ahead.

You are so right. Right now, we can see the season has begun and we just all need to be prepared. We have all been waiting for the start to the season, and now it looks like it has finally started. There are definately a lot of systems on the satellite visuals to watch now. Happy Hurricane Season to all. :D

Yeah, and I'd watch that tropical wave that just exited Africa as there is model support for a low pressure center just north of Puerto Rico in one weeks' time.

There's also a very well-defined tropical wave just east of the islands with impressive banding at this stage and yes...GOOD potential for development as it continues westward...VERY soon.

Many things to watch for...

Yeah Luis, if you just woke up and looked at that picture of the Atlantic you would swear it was August - and Late August at that. Very scary
