7:15 am New Burst of Convection and Report from Dauphin Isla

#1 Postby rockyman » Sat Jun 11, 2005 7:23 am

Good Morning, All!

Just lost my Direcway (satellite internet) so I'm on AOL dialup (ugh!)...and if we lose power I'll switch to EDGE (cell phone internet)...Looks like a new burst of convection is beginning in the NW Quadrant....this might be that diurnal max we've been hearing about...

So far so good here on the Island...the wind is pretty strong and the rain has started....so far, no tidal flooding within sight...but high tide is coming up in a few hours and things could change quickly...

The surfers are gone and the beach is deserted...Frogs have also taken a nap...I even slept for 4.5 hours!! Will check in later...

Thanks for Update Rocky. I had planned on putting the Wellcraft in at Billy Goat Hole this AM at 5:00. Didn't happen. Stay safe, thanks for the update, and keep us posted.

Channel 5 just showed one of the surfers on DI. Apparently, they're still there... somewhere. It appears you guys are, indeed, going to be ground zero once again. Thanks for the updates. They mean a lot, esp. as I have family on Fowl River. Stay safe down there!

Stay safe everyone on the coast. I actually planned on making the trip but couldn't for some personal reasons. I do have some of my chasers and close friends that will be down in the area tracking the storm from Orange/Perdido Beach over towards Pascagoula. Waves are already very turbulent out there. I will have some video and picture from Justin Chandler as soon as he returns from the trip.
