Bill was great. We got most of that day off to relax and drink. For whatever reason after landfall, we got under the center of circulation for about 10-15 minutes and saw some gusts well into the 40's. It made for a nice tropical day even if that was all she wrote for the NO that year. (Something is better than nothing)

Bill was a fun TS - just enough to get your attention.

Bill was pretty squally even up here... I remember the mail coming just as a 30-40 mph gust came through with torrential rain.

UNNNGH. You don't have to remind me. I went deep sea fishing on the Sunday Bill formed south of us before making landfall the next day. Fortunately as an incurable closet weather nerd  I knew what was possible, so I started popping Bonine Saturday morning. Everyone else in the group went out and tied one on in Grand Isle Saturday night. I was fine, but let's just say we had a lot of "open mouth chumming" off the gunwale the next day as the swells began to build ahead of Bill.

FWIW, the fishing was excellent! Along with the red snapper and amberjack, I caught a beautiful African Pompano that was very close to state record size.

Bill was nothing over here. And the center passed directly over me. Just rain and that was about it. The winds were no worse than a normal breezy day. Most of the businessess were kept open as usual. Including my place of employment, of course, Sears.

We had a direct south wind with Bill and recorded some gusts in the upper 40's. I think Biloxi had a gust to 56 MPH. That South wind pushed water up over the causeway and shut it down for a spell. i agree Bill was a very fun Tropical Storm, and packed some punch to be so weak. :D :D

Interesting to Note that the Atlantic Basin on average sees a Tropical Storm every other year. I hate to use this word but we are DUE.

Do you mean we are due for a June system?

I think the meaning here was simply that since we didn't have on form LAST June, and since "on average" one fomrs in June "every other year", then we are "due" this year.

Plenty of water was pushed ahead of that one. Unfortunately, Bill's surge on the beach here in Biloxi killed thousands of Least Terns - many of which that were still in their eggs. The day after the storm, my wife and I walked the beach and were horrified at the number dead chicks and ruined eggs all along the seawall on Hwy 90. Guess that's just another part of what nature is all about... But a sad sight indeed.
