We had an exceptionally strong Arctic vortex this winter, which would account for this record level of ozone depletion (the recipe for ozone depletion is adding sunlight to extremely cold air well-mixed with halogens.)
This may or may not be related to global warming - some models show an enhanced polar vortex as an effect of warming, others do not.
